Smashed Yams

 

Smashed Yams

Boil 1 yam or sweet potato

SAUTEE:  1/2 diced shallot and 1/2 red pepper, 1 clove garlic

ADD: chili, cumin powder to taste and 1 tsp salt(or try your own favorite seasoning)

MASH: everything together with 1 TBSP olive oil

 

TIp: Yams are have a sweeter flavor, shallots have a more mild flavor, they pair better together, a regular onion can give a harsher flavor to the yams.  This recipe goes great with any meal or as a quick snack.
