Cosmic Apple Farms

This summer i’ve been working on Cosmic Apple Farms 1 shift/week as a work share, in return I receive a full share of organic food.  It’s been an absolutely fabulous way to learn about local farmers and free range products in the general area of Wyoming, Idaho and Utah.  I love working for the organic farms because it tends to be a small nitch community with transient people that work on the farms.  It’s a way to discover, travel and explore.

Cosmic Apple Farms is a certified organic, bio-dynamic (what is bio-dynamics?) farm tucked into the foot hills of Victor, Idaho.  CAF not only provides greens, tomatos, herbs and other vegetables but also eggs, beef, pork and much more.

CAF is developed on 20 acres of farming land.  The season is approximately 16 weeks for share holders which runs from June – September.  The farm is largely community driven and supported.  I have to admit it is a lot of fun knowing where my food comes from, how well its being treated and the fact that I get to have a hand in providing amazing fresh produce and meat to locals.

This weeks share was: Sorrel, Chives, Basil, and Mixed Greens (mustard, kale, lettuce, etc…) I’ve been making lots of pesto this summer and also a wonderful Sorrel Candied Walnut Strawberry Salad…UMMMM:)
